About Chelsea Building Society.

The history of Chelsea Building Society dates back to 1875. In 2010 they merged with the Yorkshire Building Society with the Chelsea brand being retained. They offer both new and existing customers a range of mortgages, savings accounts and insurance products.

The history of Chelsea Building Society goes back to 1875, when the Camberwell and South London Building Society was formed. Three years later, in 1878, the Borough of Chelsea Permanent Building Society was formed. On the 31st December 1966 the two societies merged to create a new called Chelsea and South London Building Society and April 1971 the name was changed to Chelsea Building Society. 1988 Chelsea completed a merger with the City of London Building Society and On 31 December 2008, Chelsea merged with Catholic Building Society with members of the Catholic receiving a windfall payout. On 1st April 2010 Chelsea merged with Yorkshire Building Society, the UK's second largest building society. Following the merger the Chelsea Building Society brands were retained.

Savings Accounts available include e-Saver Reward, Fixed Rate e-ISA, Triple Access Saver, Instant Access with Branch, Regular Savings, 1,2 and 3 Year Fixed Rate Bonds, 45 and 60 Day Notice Accounts,  1 and 3 Year Fixed Rate ISAs, Over 50s ISA and Instant Access ISA as well as a Ready Steady Save Savings Account for children.

Mortgages include Fixed Rate Mortgages and Tracker Mortgages.

Insurance products available include Legal & General Mortgage Protection Insurance, Travel Insurance and Home Contents and Buildings Insurance.
