Kent Reliance Building Society

Kent Reliance Building Society, was a UK Building society, Incorporating the Chatham Reliance (established 1898), Dover District (established 1861), Herne Bay (established 1888) and Kent & Canterbury (established 1847). On 1 February 2011, Kent Reliance Building Society transferred its business to a new bank, OneSavings Bank Plc (which trades as krbs), whilst at the same time J.C. Flowers & Co, one of the world’s largest private equity firms, made a substantial capital investment in the new bank.

Members of the Society have become members of Kent Reliance Provident Society, a new industrial and provident society. KRPS will hold a majority of ordinary shares in OneSavings Bank Plc. All their business, savings accounts and mortgages, has been transferred from the building society to the bank. The new organisation continues to have the ethos of a mutual, but will have the trading advantages of a bank, enabling new capital to be brought to the business. They advertise that OneSavings Bank Plc will be a new style of bank and we will show the results when they are released.
