About Leek Building Society
The Leek United Permanent Benefit Building Society was
established in 1863, at the time of Leek United's incorporation there were
almost 3,000 building societies but by the end of 2010 the number was down to
48. The name was changed to Leek United & Midlands Building Society in 1919
and to Leek United in 1990. They are members of the building societies
association and regulated and authorised by the FSA.

For the year they made a profit after tax of £2,536,000
(£2,752,000).
Mortgage Lending – Gross lending in the year was £84m
(2009: £60m). Arrears greater than 2.5% as at 31 December 2010 - 0.18% (2009:
0.27%). The total amount outstanding on mortgages at the end of the year was
£566.8m (2009: £568.6m). At 31 December 2010 there were nil (2009: nil)
mortgage accounts which were twelve months or more in arrears.
Savings – Share balances and retail deposit accounts
achieved a record increase of £65m and the society achieved asset growth of
3.87% for 2010.
