The Mansfield Building Society was established in 1869.  In 2010 they were awarded the best local building society by what mortgage magazine. They are a mutual and members of the building societies association. The FSA reg no is 206049. They offer a wide range of financial products and services, aiming to satisfy the needs of customers.

Financial Results Year Ended 31/12/2010

For the year they made a profit after tax of £355,000 (£261,000).

Mortgage Lending – Mortgage balances were only modestly higher than levels reported at 31 December 2009, despite completing on almost £40m of new mortgages as borrowers continued to take advantage of the low interest rate environment and repay a greater proportion of capital. Total lending including further advances was £39.9m (2009: £35.9m). Advances secured on residential owner occupied property represented 100% of the total lending (2009: 98%). At 31 December 2010 there were two mortgage cases where repayments were twelve months or more in arrears (2009: five), the amount of those arrears being £13,370 (2009: £27,303) and the mortgage balances £80,607 (2009: £304,105). 399 mortgages were completed during the year.

 

Savings – During 2010, the Society experienced a net increase in members’ savings and deposit balances of £0.5m,
