About Market Harborough Building Society.

Originally called the Fourth Post Office Mutual Society NCBS was established in 1896. In 1965 the name was changed to National Post Office Building Society. In 1972 the name became National Counties Building Society. Hampshire Trust PlC, a private bank based in Fareham, was acquired by the Society in 2006. They are members of the building societies association and FSA REG is 206080.

Financial Results Year Ended 31/12/2010

For the year the Market Harborough Building Society made a profit after tax of £750,000 (£1,006,000).

Mortgage Lending – Gross Mortgage lending rose to £69.5m (2009:£61.2m). This meant that mortgage assets grew in the year by 2.80%. Four loans were 12 months or more in arrears at the year end. The capital balances on these accounts amounted to £154k and the aggregate arrears were £13k.

Savings – The Mutual Society’s retail savings balances grew by £20.7m in 2010. A number of account types underpinned this “inflow”; notably our affinity accounts (supporting LOROS and Cransley Hospice), Sixty60 for older savers and their internet Onthedot accounts.
