Shepshed Building Society.

News - December 2012 - The Boards of Directors of Nottingham Building Society (The Nottingham) and Shepshed Building Society (The Shepshed) have agreed in principle that the two societies should merge. Subject to approval by the members of The Shepshed and confirmation by the Financial Services Authority, the merger is expected to be effective from 1 July 2013.
About Shepshed Building Society.

Shepshed Permanent Benefit Building Society was formed in 1879. The original office was located in Field Street, a stone’s throw away from the current site. The current site was expanded in 1998.

The Shepshed Building Society is a member of the Building Societies Association and has two branches plus the head office and offers a range of mortgages and savings accounts. The society is regulated by the FSA (reg no 206067). Mortgage Sales are split 25% direct and 75% through Intermediaries.

Mortgage Accounts – 2 Year Discount Mortgage, Shared Ownership, Homebuy Direct Mortgages that allows you to buy a newly built home on a designated development with the assistance of two equity loans. One loan is from the Government, the other loan is from the Developer.These two loans combined can cover up to 30% of the total purchase price, and Shepshed Building Society can provide a mortgage for the remaining 70% of the purchase price, subject to approval. Repayments on the mortgage will be made in the usual way, with nothing payable on the amount that the Government and Developer contributed for the first five years, Buy to Let, Variable Rate and 3 Year Fixed Rate Mortgages.

Financial Results Year Ended 31/12/2010

For the year the Shepshed Building Society made a profit after tax of £244,000 (£168,000).

Mortgage Lending – Gross mortgage lending decreased to £64.4 million from £69.4 million the year before. At the year end there were 12 mortgage accounts where arrears were 12 months or more with total outstanding balances gross of provisions of £1,231,255 with arrears of £89,882.

Savings – Share balances contracted to £69 million from £74.8 million the year before.
