The Swansea Building Society was founded as a mutual
Building Society back in 1923. The
Swansea Building Society is one of only three remaining Building Societies in
Wales and the only Building Society or Bank with its headquarters in West
Wales. They are members of the building societies association and authorised
and regulated by the FSA. Investors residing outside of Wales will be required
to invest a minimum amount of £5,000.00 to open a savings account with them.

Mortgage Lending - Gross mortgage lending of £32.6m.
Net mortgage balances increased by £17.5m to £125.0m representing growth of
16.4% in the year. Total mortgage arrears at 31 December 2010 amounted to
£73,011. At 31 December 2010, there was 1 case (2009 - 1) where repayments were
12 months or more in arrears, which is also in possession (2009 -Nil). The
amount of those arrears was £9,930 and the mortgage balance £139,335.
Savings – Investors and depositors have again supported
the Society with net savings balances remaining at £172.9m.
